Pearl V Puri, a TV actor and model, has been accused of raping a minor and was arrested by the Vasai Police on Friday (June 4). The actor was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and has been taken into custody on Saturday (June 5). According to recent reports, Pearl was arrested in Vasai along with five other accused people and brought to the Vasai court the following day.

What Really Happened?

According to the reports that are being widely circulated on social media, a couple of days ago, Pear’s co-star had arrived on the TV show’s set with her husband and their 11-year-old daughter. The daughter wanted to take a selfie with Pearl, so he obliged her request and took the little girl to his vanity van. The actor sexually abused and raped the girl in the vanity van, apparently.

After the girl came back home with her parents, she refused to eat or speak to anyone. But when probed continuously by her father, she told him everything. At first, her mother refused to believe that this could be true. But later on, medical reports came which confirmed that the girl has indeed been raped.

Soon after, the parents filed an FIR against the actor at the Waliv police station, and the police arrested him from Amboli in his friend’s house. Some reports say that the actor is under police custody, while others say that the actor has already secured bail.

A lot of actors and producers like Ekta Kapoor, the producers of his hit TV serial Nagin 3, has come in support of him. Kapoor shared a photo of her with Pearl, saying that the girl’s mother told her that no such instance had occurred. She shared a long post in which she said that she would never support a child molester or a molester of any kind.

Kapoor claimed that Pearl is innocent after calling the victim’s mother, who openly confessed that Pearl was not involved in any such case. It’s her husband who is trying to cook up stories to create a picture that a working mother cannot take care of her child. She also added that if this is true, it is very wrong. Using a strong movement like ‘Me Too’ to meet with your own personal agendas is wrong on so many levels.

Along with Kapoor, Pearl’s co-stars, Krystle D’Souza and Anita Hassanandani have also supported him on social media with the hashtags #istandwithpearl and #PearlVPuri. Amid all the chaos and accusations, we can just wait till the truth comes out and hope that justice prevails.
